1. INTRODUCTION
This Privacy & Data Protection Policy (“Policy”) is issued by Tapin Global, LLC dba Tap-In (“Tap-In,” “Company,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) to outline how we collect, use, store, and protect user data.
By enrolling in Tap-In’s services, the User acknowledges and agrees to this Policy.
2. DATA COLLECTION & USAGE
Tap-In collects and processes personal data strictly for travel monitoring, emergency response, and security assistance.
2.1 Data We Collect
- Personal Identifiable Information (PII) – Name, date of birth, nationality, passport details.
- Contact Information – Email, phone number, Apple ID or Google account (for device tracking).
- Emergency Contacts – Names, phone numbers, and emails of designated emergency contacts.
- Lodging & Travel Itinerary – Hotel/Airbnb details, flight information, transportation data.
- Live Location Data – GPS tracking via phone, WhatsApp check-ins, and optional tracking devices.
- Medical & Legal Information (if voluntarily provided) – Allergies, medical conditions, legal matters requiring intervention.
2.2 How We Use This Data
- Emergency Response & Security Monitoring – Providing real-time support and safety check-ins.
- Medical & Legal Assistance – Coordinating with hospitals, attorneys, or embassies when required.
- Security & Threat Analysis – Identifying risks based on location tracking data.
- Law Enforcement & Government Compliance – Responding to subpoenas or legal requests.
Tap-In does NOT sell or rent User data to third parties for marketing purposes.
3. USER RIGHTS & DATA CONTROL
Users have the following rights regarding their personal data:
- Right to Access – Users may request a copy of their personal data held by Tap-In.
- Right to Correction – Users may update or modify incorrect data.
- Right to Deletion – Users may request permanent removal of personal data, except where legally required.
- Right to Restrict Processing – Users may opt out of non-essential data collection while still receiving emergency services.
Users can submit a request by emailing privacy@tap-in.com. Requests will be processed within 30 business days.
4. THIRD-PARTY DATA SHARING & COMPLIANCE
User authorizes Tap-In to share necessary data with:
- Emergency Responders – Paramedics, hospitals, and crisis teams.
- Law Enforcement Agencies – If User is detained, arrested, or reported missing.
- Immigration Authorities – If required for visa verification, deportation, or investigations.
- Legal Representatives – If User requires an attorney while abroad.
- Emergency Contacts – If Tap-In determines User is in distress.
Tap-In is NOT responsible for how third parties handle User data once transferred.
5. DATA SECURITY & ENCRYPTION
Tap-In implements strict security measures to protect user data:
- Encryption – All stored data is encrypted to prevent unauthorized access.
- Access Controls – Only authorized personnel can access User data.
- Secure Transmission – Sensitive data is transmitted using SSL encryption.
- Data Breach Response Plan – Tap-In will notify affected Users if a breach occurs.
Despite best practices, Tap-In cannot guarantee 100% protection against cyberattacks. Users acknowledge this risk.
6. PAYMENT & FINANCIAL DATA PROTECTION
- Payment information is processed through secure third-party payment providers.
- Tap-In does not store full credit card details but may retain transaction records.
- Users authorize Tap-In to charge emergency-related expenses (legal, medical, security) to their payment method on file.
Users agree to resolve payment disputes directly with their bank or payment provider.
7. DATA RETENTION & COMPLIANCE WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT
- User data is retained for 5 years for compliance and security purposes.
- After 5 years, data is permanently deleted, except where legal retention is required.
- Tap-In will comply with government or law enforcement requests where legally obligated.
Users acknowledge that deleting their data before the end of their trip may impactemergency response capabilities.
8. LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY & USER CONSENT
User waives, releases, and discharges Tap-In from claims related to:
- Unauthorized third-party access to User data.
- Data breaches caused by cyberattacks, technical failures, or external providers.
- Loss of emergency response capabilities due to User-requested data deletions.
USER UNDERSTANDS THAT TAP-IN IS NOT LIABLE FOR THIRD-PARTY DATA HANDLING ERRORS.
9. DISPUTE RESOLUTION & GOVERNING LAW
9.1 Mediation & Arbitration (Texas Jurisdiction)
- All disputes must first go through mandatory mediation in Dallas County, Texas.
- If mediation fails, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration in Texas.
- Users waive the right to file lawsuits in any other jurisdiction.
9.2 Governing Law
This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas.
10. ACKNOWLEDGMENT & ACCEPTANCE
By creating a user profile, enrolling in Tap-In services, or accessing Tap-In platforms including the mobile application or website, you affirmatively acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by this Privacy & Data Protection Policy. You provide informed consent to Tap-In’s collection, processing, use, and disclosure of your personal data as described herein. If you do not agree to this Policy in its entirety, you must not use Tap-In services.
This Policy is incorporated by reference into the Tap-In Global Master Terms of Service and shall be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Continued use of Tap-In’s services constitutes ongoing acceptance of any revised Privacy Policy as may be
updated from time to time.
